Thursday 10th August, what a day! The sun was shining, the champagne flowing, and the cheers of the crowd reverberated around Brighton racecourse as the horses thundered towards the finish post.
Ladies’ Day kicked off to an electric start with a steady flow of glamorous guests receiving a musical welcome from the excellent acoustic band, Wandering Hands, before heading towards a beautiful flower wall where they could strike a pose for the cameras. With a £500 Best Dressed prize up for grabs it was well worth the effort!
Greeting them after this dazzling photoshoot were the ladies from My Charlestown. A dance troupe that entertained with their sleek, upbeat routine to electro-swing beats. A definite crowd pleaser!
With the ultimate goal of the Star Lawn and Hospitality box in sight, Star guests were able to take in all the sights and sounds of the course before seeking refreshments and shade ahead of the races.
With a packed schedule of six flat races, there was all to play for. We were very pleased to see the company namesake ‘He’s Our Star’ win the Star Construction & Maintenance Classified Stakes at 10/1. Plenty of us walked away with a fist full of coins from that win!
Between races, plenty stopped to admire the glossy coats of the impressive four-legged competitors in the parade ring, before glances inevitably turned to those dressed to impress on two legs. In the end, the worthy winner of Best Dressed was Rachel, taking the title with a beautiful flower-laden hat made by her niece that complemented a stunning vintage, floral dress. Congratulations!
As Ladies’ Day drew to a close, the jubilant crowd, glowing from a day of revelry and sunshine, ebbed away leaving an animated group of Star guests and staff to finish the night off in style at Malmaison, Brighton’s uber glamourous cocktail lounge.
